CEE Circle for Innovation

Last month numerous experts on innovation policies from the CEE region gathered in Brussels to brainstorm on how to raise the real impact of CEE countries on drafting innovation policies in Brussels. SAPIE is indeed part of this great initiative. Although the CEE region is one of a few in Europe that is still keeping constant economic growth, its real impact on European policies remains rather marginal.

There are only few initiatives coming from this region that focus on improving the overall state of innovation policies. Simultaneously, over the past months and years, we have witnessed a huge wave of dozens adopted regulations that creates a robust legislative framework of the digital and innovation sphere. It is nearly impossible to navigate through all acts that in many ways limit the capacities of European innovators to strive and keep the pace with their counterparts across the globe. It keeps us away from the ambition to complete the single market, Europe's greatest competitive advantage. Also, with the rapid advancement in generative AI, the gap between tech superpowers, including the USA and China, and Europe has been widening rapidly.

CEE Circle for Innovation aims at mapping the innovation potential of the CEE region, its limits as well as opportunities, and will soon introduce complex policy recommendations on promoting tech innovation and balanced regulatory practices in Europe. Stay tuned!
